First of all Happy Father's Day and my deepest sympathies if you get jox and sox.

I thought a thread which could be left tactfully open for the appropriate ocassion might be useful.
So - apart from a new waterproof negligee with deep pockets, or a new pair of matching gumboots, what else would make a great gift for you on that "Special Occasion"?

A couple of years ago my MIL gave me some birthday money "to buy myself something special" I mentioned a lovely vase which I had seen. That made her very happy.
I bought a solar/mains rechargeable torch which sits on a sunny window sill and never goes flat. No one else would dare to touch it. I will be forever appreciative of her generosity.

When OH left work he was given the money collected for his leaving present - to buy chickens with :-D Unbeknownst to his very scary boss we named one of the hens after her!

I have often asked for chicken keeping practical things (that I select and purchase) for birthdays etc, not very glam, but who cares :-D

A Christmas present from my sister in law was a copy of the Australian Poultry Standards. The most used book here ever. Best present I have ever been given.
