Rookie question: why is my quail egg blue/green?

Could be due to the colour mutation, silver King quails lay blue eggs whilst the brown hens lay brown eggs.

It happens occasionally, not sure why. Sometimes a really dark one or almost white one will pop up too. Nothing sinister from what I can see, just a hiccup.

An interesting aside while on the topic of quail eggs. Coturnix quail hens actually appear to know what colour egg they will lay, and choose a spot to lay that best camouflages and disguises it.
