Four days ago I noticed that one of my two year old hens had her bum hanging out for the whole flock to see. I was as confused as she must of been. Thankfully for BYP I was able to learn of and fix the problem of prolapse. In her second day of isolation and minimum feed she laid an egg, prolapsed again I again washed and put her bum back in. Today with no egg and her bum in place she was broody. Good idea I thought now your bum will stay in for at least four months, here's some eggs. This hen was broody, hatched and reared chicks four months ago. Whether my intervening brought on broody or not ultimately it was her decision and inadvertently or not she saved her own backside.
