HI All,

When I have travelled about viewing and buying poultry I see that fanciers have show cages set up inside pens etc to pop their roosters in and do show training etc. I would like a couple of these and wondered if there are people out there that actually build them to sell? :nail: I am thinking of mounting a couple on the wall of my enclosed pen. Or does anyone have anything second hand they want to sell.

I will be at Canberra and Sydney Royals so could pick up. I will also be at the Wagga Auction

Thanks :thanks:

Well you caught me out Micki. No I wont mount them myself and you are right I don;t mount much these days :-) but I am a pretty good delegator!

Nelda my trusted fencing man has got that job but he doesn't know it yet!! He has BIG hands!

Now answer my Q.

do people build these things to sell? It frightens me how handy the chook world is - I am useless and I am a consumer ..I was born to SHOP ..I need to buy chook stuff.

"I want it all I want it now" .... isn't that some soft rock song?

:hiya:

Nik,

Some people build their own totally. Others buy the cage fronts and build the box to mount the fronts on.

If you go to Bellsouth (www.bellsouth.com.au) after going into the site, click on equipment on the left hand side, then select cage making.

In there you will see all the cage making stuff including cage fronts.

Description Price
14.1 FCFB CAGE FRONT BANTAM 450MMX450MM $13.42
14.1 FCFBT CAGE FRONT BANTAM TRIPLE 450 X 1350 $30.36
14.1 FCFD CAGE FRONT DUCK 760MM X 600MM $18.15
14.1 FCFL CAGE FRONT LARGE FOWL 600MMX600MM $14.08

So, you choose your fronts, then make the boxes accordingly and yes, mount them on the wall.

J

 They are likely to see even more chooks if they go to a show! The idea is to get them used to other birds, other people, noise and activity all around them - isn't it? :P

Thanks Everyone :!:

Daniel I think I can get the numbers for the Wagga poultry club so I'll give them a call.

EUROA sounds very tempting ..not just for the cages but all the chooks.
