Hi Ron, I've got 2 australorps which have turned out to be roosters. We can't keep them as we are located in the inner west. I was wondering if you would be interested in showing my husband and I how to humanely kill the roosters and you could keep one for your troubles.
Regards
Raylene

I have three roosters of indeterminate breed, age about three months old, ready for pickup from Canberra, freebies and we know they'll most likely end up on the dinner table.
Photos here: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjJcjEPt
All three are lovely healthy friendly birds, but they've started crowing so I need them gone before the neighbours unfriend me on Facebook and stop inviting us over for dinner.

G'day all.

As part of a local Landcare/Shire programme known as "FarmBlitz", an event was organised on the topic of ‘keeping chooks for eggs & meat’ on November the 23rd, in Willowmavin. Due to a higher than expected number of respondents who expressed interest in wanting to learn dispatching / dressing a chook, the presenter only had two set aside for the task. :aaah! So, the organisers have asked that people are able to bring along their own chooks as as this would allow people to partake in the process, do the deed and then take the results home.

Being that most of the respondents do not currently (or have only just started) keeping their own chooks - if you have any "ready to dispatch" birds and are within an hour of the Broadford or Kilmore area, please get in contact with me :addicted: and I'll organise collections.

I should, at this point, note that I am not actually associated with the group other than as a participant, and this ad is my attempt to ensure fellow participants have access to a bird as well.

I would like to have availability and numbers confirmed by Nov 15th so that participants can be assured or alternatively can make other arrangements to secure a bird.

We are looking for between 2 to 4 birds in total and a small fee for hens will be acceptable by purchasers. :pray :th
