Hello - I have two Bantam Orpington cockerels for sale, a black and a blue, both 18 weeks, hand-reared, gentle boys: $12 each.

Still relatively young, they are showing promising form. The attached photos don't really do the birds justice; the black has full beetle-green sheen to his plumage while the blue is showing the sought-for darker upper body, blue lower body character with darker outlines to the blue feathers (his sister -- not for sale -- is a gorgeous blue bird!). Both are from show stock.

These would be good birds for a bantam Orpington group, and also ideal for mixed-breed bantam hens as the larger than average size of bantam Orpingtons and the famous utility character of this old English breed will assist egg size and laying frequency in progeny. At the same time, their smaller than standard size make them less harmful to the home garden (I free range them myself in my backyard, with no problems). NB: Bantam Orp roosters should be able to manage other smaller standard size hens (e.g. silkie, pekin etc). Happy to advise, and to send the birds interstate.
