Just googled for information to see how it compares with certification to sell 'back yard' eggs. Interesting stuff, many more hoops to jump through than there were getting the eggs permit. Biosecurity including vehicle access, housing, rodent control, chemicals used on property both for birds and in general, welfare of birds, lots more.
I'm sure it's not nearly as difficult as made out (same as with eggs) and would again just be a case of going through the steps - but still daunting. And that's just to be acceptable to send to a processor, but certification for processing 'on farm' has requirements it would be a massive financial outlay/risk to undertake.
