Just googled for information to see how it compares with certification to sell 'back yard' eggs. Interesting stuff, many more hoops to jump through than there were getting the eggs permit. Biosecurity including vehicle access, housing, rodent control, chemicals used on property both for birds and in general, welfare of birds, lots more.

I'm sure it's not nearly as difficult as made out (same as with eggs) and would again just be a case of going through the steps - but still daunting. And that's just to be acceptable to send to a processor, but certification for processing 'on farm' has requirements it would be a massive financial outlay/risk to undertake.

i would like to hear more on this topic also. its been confusing to research, and find everthing all at once. how restrictive is egg certs and farm safety certs. any links. i was thinking outlay for abattoir - but so many things to read. know others have had trouble getting, but i think to get for chickens it is easier than other animals - this is what i learnt last night anyway.
