Hi,
I'm wondering if you could advise what medication if any I could use around around my Aracauna's eye. I have just cut away some top feathers as I don't think she could see properly and noticed redness around her right eye. Her other eye looks normal.
thank you very much. should I bathe it in warm salty water?

Try one of the little saline tubes you can buy from the pharmacy for contact lenses. These are already sterile and have the ingredients at the right concentrations.

Make your own saline solution

Approximately 1% saline
One teaspoon of table salt into 600ml of drinking water (tap, rain, bottle - whatever) in a pot
Bring it to a rapid boil and boil for at least 1 minute
Leave to cool then use

I don’t think you need a “salt solution” that could be damaging or irritating to the eyes. But if you want it more salty three teaspoons of salt to 600ml will make it similar to sea water

Thank you so much for your advice, I will do exactly that. I hadn't noticed it until I snipped her forehead as she didn't seem to be able to see that well.
