I have a chicken with a severe case of bumblefoot. Following a hillbilly video, I soaked the foot in a warm Epsom salt bath, removed the black scab and squeezed it. Out popped about 3 bodies resembling corn kernels. I sterilised the foot, put an antibiotic cream on it, gauze and bandaged it securely but loosely and isolated her. Have given her some Keflex each day for 4 days.
Two nights later I repeated the above, and there were several more "corns" which popped out. I bandaged etc.etc.
Two days later, the foot is still inflamed and quite swollen.
Am intending to give the foot one further treatment tomorrow morning, but would appreciate opinions on whether I am simply being cruel by persisting.
All opinions appreciated.
Cheers

Hi - gave her foot another treatment this morning. The heat seems less in the foot, no pus or bodies after the bath, gave her another Keflex cap and will give her another few days. She will only eat cucumber or corn on the cob, no pellets, nor water it seems.
Will keep her isolated, but moving her box into the chicken pen so she can at least hear the other birds.
cheers
