Hi, On Monday I bought 2 chicks( 1 day old). I have noticed one has a bare spot on shoulder, when I touched it,I felt a large hardish lump.I pressed on it and it didnt seem to cause her any pain or discomfort.
What could it be, and more importantly what should I do about it?

I forgot to mention she is eating, drinking and her poos seem normal.
The lump is more on the side of neck, than on her shoulder, as I first posted.
Apart from this lump she seems perfectly fine and happy.

Are you able to post a photo of this lump?

I'm of no use to you in helping... but if you put a photo up it may help those with more experience in knowing what it is.

The crop is at the front of the bird, in front of the neck. When they eat, food is stored in the crop until they pass it to their gizzard. After that it goes to their stomach.... and then so on until it goes out the other end.

The crop will empty overnight as food is passed to the gizzard, so yes, it will be smaller every morning if her digestion system is running as it should.

You want them to go to roost with a full crop so that they don't go hungry overnight. The crop should feel sort of grainy & move like plasticine when it's full. If it feels like it's full of liquid, or feels very solid & unmoving, then there may be a problem.

sorry I could only get photos in gallery.
The lump is not at the front of neck, but more like where our lymph glands are in neck, and I think it must have grown since yesterday, as I have been handling them often and checking their little bottoms for mess, and I remember noticing fluffy bits sticking up and thinking "how cute a chicken with a cowlick", if it was as big as now I would have felt it.

I can see from the pictures that it's something abnormal and unusual. The pictures aren't good enough to see any more detail than that.

I think you should take a picture from a little further away so that the auto focus will work. Then zoom in when you transfer the pictures to the computer. That way we may be able to see more.

Well I have an update about my chicky with the lump.
As you can see in the photos it was quite large, and got that way quickly.
When I was checking her this morning, imagine my surprise to feel it had almost gone.
Well that made me think it must be her crop, but why was it on the side of her neck and not on front?
I took her to the vet, just to be sure it wasnt anything more serious, taking my camera to show him what it looked like last night. He laughed and said she must be a little piggy, and that her crop must have been very full. (I know she likes her food as she wsnt fussed at all about the car ride, just pecking at the starter crumbs on the bottom of the cage).
Well someone is going to have her food intake monitered! which I thought they did themselves.
I asked if it was going to cause future problems that that her crop seem to be more to the right than front of neck, probably not I was told, but massage it very gently.
Im very happy to say it is not half as bad tonight.
Thats aload off my mind ,as of course I was thinking the worst, just hope it isnt going to cause trouble down the track.
