Hi everyone,

Just double checking, but the directions on the bottle say 1.5 tablets for 750g to 1kg body weight.

Does this mean if my chicken weighs 2.8kg, I would give it 4.5 tablets in total or does it mean that 1.5 tablets are the most you can give ?

I don't want to overdose them !

Thanks !

Yes, give 4.5 tablets per 2.8kg chook :)

Next time go for the Wormout tablets. They are 1 tablet per 2kg chook, so you'd only need to do 1.5 tablets for your chook which would be easier.

I don't know if it does gapeworm, but that's not very common.

Ivermectin will treat gapeworm so if you're worried about it you can use that a week or so later. Do you think that gapeworm is an issue in your flock?

I'm not sure, but my rooster sounds like he's losing his voice a little bit.

Like when he crows it's a bit like "cock-a-do ... -doo"
The ... is where there's no sound.

Also, when he's walking around he sometimes looks like he's gasping a little bit every now and then. Also, when I pick him up he makes the same gasping look / sound.
But everything else about him seems normal, running around eating, drinking, dancing for the hens, jumping on the hens, crowing every now and then.

Gape Worm is not common but it does happen - or else his voice is just wearing out :yess
The 'Worm Out people' told me some years ago that it will 'do Gape'

Levamisole (avitrol), benzamidazoles (wormout) and macrocyclic lactones (ivermectin/moxidectin) will all treat gapeworm

If it's gapeworm it's highly likely that they will be reinfected due to consuming intermediate hosts (worms, snails) so if you think the wormer you have used didn't work they may have been reinfected or the dose rate was incorrect or incorrectly administered (in water and they didn't drink enough)

The prepatent period is around 14 days so follow up treatment at around ten days would be recommended to kill the ones missed before they start shedding eggs again.
