Just wanting some input here on what everyone thinks best pratice is on manually turning eggs. Do you roll from side to side or do the end to end flip? thanks

Don't they end up in the same position whether you flip or roll them? So long as there getting turned I can't see a problem. I roll mine out of interest.

Tutty, Do you have a rack ?
Sometimes I reckon its easier without the rack. I've got mine in a cut down box in the bater, lined with newspaper, after a hatch is done take off the top layer of paper, then when all the hatching is done, you can throw the box away. I'ts cleaner that way.

I find that rolling and flipping both work well. As long as you are not continually rolling the eggs in the same direction. In theory, this makes the chalazae wind up and then you have all sorts of problems...

So if you ask me... Use whichever you want, if you start having hatching problems, change what you are doing.

Cheers
