It is so easy and ineggspensive.
If you put another bit of dowel in the side, too line up with 1 of the holes in the side of the incubator. Then you can use it without opening the lid.

Ok it's been 2 years so I can give a reliable report on my home made incubator.
I get about 60% hatch rate from when I set eggs to hatch.
Once I candle them at 7 days I then get 90% hatch of what is still ok.
So if I set 100 eggs I will lose 40 because they were not fertile or for some reason did not set.
From the 60 or so left I will get 50 chickens at hatch.
All figures are approx but at the moment it is turning over 50 per week.

Hi jimkat,

The sheets were left over from another job. They were only offcuts.
If I remember correctly they were ordered through a local bearing supplier that sells stainless.
I think if you were to buy a sheet of it you would be looking at about $800 for a 1500x900 sheet.

News flash.
This incubator now has a simple wooden frame screwed to the front with 2 doors. 1 too access the eggs at the top and the other opens up to the hatch tray and water at the bottom.
Might get a new photo up if I get time.
