just a question when you have broodys instead of an incubator do you need a rooster for them to go broody?

i have experienced in the past that the birds in with a rooster seem to go broody and some times they dont go broody as quick.

cheers pMAD

No they dont !

Broodiness is triggered within the hens by such things as hormones, the amount of daylight hours, the number of eggs they have laid and the weather. There are other factors as well however, thats the general picture.

It will happen regardless of roosters.

But...... you do need a rooster to have fertile eggs - I know you know that but it needed to be said anyway.
