I have an IM fully automatic incubator that will only be 2 years old come August. At the end of the season last year I had trouble getting the temperature high enough. I muddled through but last night I plugged it in to see what it would do and it wouldnt heat at all. The highest the temp would go was 25deg :? The business I bought it from has now been bought out and I'm not sure if they still sell them. Does anyone know anyone that does or where to get some help from? I am no electronics genius....takes all my ability just to use the computer

I have had mine for about the same time period and it hasnt missed a beat in all that time. What I love about my machine is the speed at which it can reach temp and stay stable even after being switched off for cleaning ( it doesnt get turned off completely for much else here.
Peter Gibbs stock feeds in Melbourne is where mine came from - ( im no good with electronics either- ) you could try following up with them for some help.

I had the same problem with mine last season (IM144), it would only go up to about 30 degrees after being on all day. Took me a while to realise the fan was not working. Being mechanically minded I gave it a good thump on the top which dislodged a lump of dust and away it went. Didn't skip a beat all season so hoping it is ok again this year. Just check your fan is working ok before you start looking at the thermostat etc. I love my machine....a great investment.

Mine holds 108 eggs!! Which would be quite enuff if the blessed thing was working properly:wink: I will check the fan tonight and see what happens.Would be much cheaper if thats all thats wrong :? The little red heater light keeps clicking off at about 25deg tho even when the temp knob is turned up as far as it can go.......

Well I checked the fan and it seems to be running smoothly.....where is the "wafer" in these machines? Now remember these types of things aren't my strong point... So explain stuff in nice simple terms please :aaargh:

Ohhhh...might be the thermostat, then. :( I can't really remember well, but have a feeling the light on mine stayed on cause the thermostat was working, but just couldnt achieve the temp without the fan. There are still a few places around that sell them so access to parts shouldn't be an issue, just a PITA.

The wafer would be in the box on the top, I would think. Have you vacuumed the bator out at all? The instruction book says to vacuum the fan vent regularly to prevent dust getting into the thermostat. I read that after mine clogged up. The cover of the thermostat box should come off, mine has a couple of screws on top. You might just have to open it and have a look. Your warranty would be finished anyway, wouldnt it?

Much better to go to jaycar or what ever and get a pressure pack can of compressed air than to use a compresser that you could use to run power tools or spray paint with.'

The workshop type compressors simply puts out too much pressure and volume of air. It will do damage to the solid state board.

I had a similar problem with a IM42 which I had. I spoke to topknot poultry supplies and he told me about a temparture adjustment on the wafer that could be made. Not sure if it would be the same as your model, but it would be worth calling/emailing him, he was very helpfull.

I made a mistake thinking this was a current thread because commercial interests had spammed it.
:doh  :laughing

How did it turn out anyway?
