In my adventures around the internet today looking at ideas for a home made incubator, I came across this incubator: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/YZ-56S-E ... 40096.html

The thing that caught my attention was the built in lights, supposedly so you can candle them while still inside.

Now I am not planning on buying it, but it did get me wondering if it happened to be a copy of a branded incubator at all? Does the style or features look familiar to anyone?

About the only thing I am interested in is the idea behind the lights. Mainly because I'm lazy so being able to build something like that in and then just having to flick a switch to candle would indulge my laziness, lol. Or adapting this idea into something similar: http://furuida.en.alibaba.com/product/6 ... ndler.html

Anyway, I'm mostly curious whether or not anyone has seen an incubator like that and if it's a copy of an existing one.

That's what got me wondering whether it was a copy of an existing incubator, but I haven't seen many and what I have seen haven't looked like that.

If I had money and fertile eggs to burn I'd be tempted to buy one and play around with it just to see how well the in built candler worked, but that won't be happening I'm afraid!

We have candling boxes which candle a whole egg tray at a time
They're basically a metal box with a cord and plug, a switch and a PC cooling fan
The top face is rubber and it's perforated for the LED lamps, in patterns to suit each of our egg trays
It's only something I've ever sold with high-capacity Greatlander incubators
I could post some photos if anyone is interested
Cheers

If it's not a pain I'd love to see it, I'm a bit of a stickybeak for things like that!

Great idea.

That looks a bit like a lower version of an old overhead projector base. Some of us might remember those. ;-)

They're a standard enclosure from an electrical distributor with removable panels and cable entry
They have all the appropriate approvals, so only need customising

It would save a lot of time to just slide a tray out of a cabinet incubator and put it on there to see what needs removing, rather than candlin each egg separately.

That's great - so useful and such a time saver for large numbers of eggs.

Thanks for posting that Redlander!

Such a good idea for the bigger incubators, it would make life so much easier. And it would be pretty cool to see a whole bunch of little chickens squiggling around in the eggs en masse.
