From New Scientist: Birds sing to their unhatched and newly hatched chicks and ducklings can already recognise their parents by their voice..

The singing resulted in birds that were lighter when they hatched.

Is this a good thing?

I read another study that exposure to lots of loud noise also caused low weight when hatched.

Well i don't talk to the eggs , but I do talk to my birds and have learnt their whistles. I can
get King parrots and Rosellas to return calls and even come down close , it's amazing sometimes how the bigger parrots will listen intently when you talk to them, my misses thinks I am nuts :hiding .

My chooks all talk to their eggs, and I'm sure the eggs hear me yelling around and know me when they hatch.
