I think my young hen is broody (about 8mths old maybe more?)

She's a Belgian D'Uccle and usually lays 2 eggs in 3 days. She laid an egg yesterday and the day before so today is her usual day off and she's been on the nest all day. (we were out most of yesterday so I don't know how long she was on then) She doesn't object much to being taken of the nest but just sits flat on the ground where i put her till she gets distracted and wonders around or eats for a bit then goes back on. She seems to be sitting really "fluffily" and when she's been preening a lot, eating a bit but not much and not scratching around. Do you think she's broody? or should I be checking for something else? It's been really cold and this is the first few months we've had chickens so i'm real unsure about getting some eggs for her but what do you recommend the first way of dealing with it should be?

i attached a photo of what she does when i lift her off the nest. little funny thing!

Penny.

She's so sweet! I've been lifting her off her nest several times a day. Yesterday she stayed off for a longer time but when the others laid some new eggs (on top of her!) this morning she got it bad again. I feel so bad taking her off :D have to think about how hard i'm going to push her to stop being broody before I give in and get her some eggs. and I have to do some more research on how to raise chicks if that's what we end up deciding...
