Hi I am hoping someone can help. I have purchased a E2 Multiplo incubator and have quite a few eggs in there. There are 2 hatching cages at bottom I am hoping someone knows how many eggs at most can I put in each cage please. Thanks.

Hi Anna,
The incubator in the case of an E2 is designed to set 2 trays each week, not all trays at once.
So if you set 2 trays each week, beginning at the top then progress each week, dropping down a level and placing the latest two trays at the top.
On about the 18th day you put the eggs from the bottom level (these have been set almost 3 weeks) down into the hatch trays.
Here they do not require turning until they hatch, you can safely leave chicks 24hrs until they are rested and are then ready to be removed to a pre warmed brooder.
To maximise the use of the incubator you can candle already set eggs after a week to 10 days, remove any clear eggs and this frees up space to set a few extra eggs with the next batch.
Mark eggs with a pencil or fine black marker so as to not lose track of when each eggs was set.
If you take advantage of setting a few extras to replace any clear eggs the hatch trays will comfortably hold these extras when it comes time to hatch.
I find also something in the base of the hatch tray that can be removed and cleaned is beneficial to stop newly hatched chicks legs spreading on the slippery metal surface.
I have used a thin rubberised mat but some folded paper towel will also serve the purpose.
