Hi,

I have a broody pekin, and she's been sitting tight for almost a week now. Today she has been on and off the nest (about four times I have seen so far) one time she was up and about for 15-20 minutes. :huh? (She doesn't have fertile eggs but I'm looking to buy some)

Is it the heat? It's about 27c today -this is my thinking, am I wrong? :read

I want to make sure she is "set" and ready to go before I get her fertile eggs.

Thanks.

On and off is normal - it is part of their egg temp management and best for her health if she takes some r & r breaks especially if she is likely to have a prolonged brood. Does she have some practice eggs under her (golf balls or supermarket egg if necessary)? Make sure she is dusted/free of lice - they will make her restless.
