Wondering if anyone has used the Blitz captive bolt stunner (smallest cartridge) for chicken euthanasia? The UK Humane Euthanasia Association recommends captive bolt as the most humane method, and specifically the CASH Small Animal Tool.

There appears to be only one distributer of this stunner in Australia, and they are asking $1400, which is out of my price range for a few hobby farm meat chickens.

I have access to the Blitz captive bolt stunner, which is recommended for animals from size piglet to bull. I know this would be 'overkill' for chooks, but I'm wondering if it would still be safe and effective (albeit prob quite messy)?

Has anyone had experience using a captive bolt stunner designed for larger animals on chickens? Thanks!!
