Anyone got any thoughts on how long after you lime a pen and water it in a few times, how long before it becomes inactive and you can put new stock in???

I don't have an answer to your question, but you might find this thread interesting Which Lime?

Thanks NellyG. It is the builders' lime I am using deliberately as I want that strong alkaline reaction to disinfect pens. I believe it breaks down quite quickly to calcium carbonate by absorbing CO2 from the air but just wondered on a time frame. Guess I will have to hunt out my pH kit! Just thought there might be a quick answer!

I would guess water will speed up the chemical reaction.

How wet or dry it is were you I have no idea.
