What is wrong with the second nest box from the left? There is a row of six. To me they all look the same but all twenty hens refuse to use it :huh?
Do nest boxes have bad Feng Shui? :headbang

Yes, nest boxes have feng shui. Or bad feng shui in the case of the second nest box from the left ;)

Fluff up the straw and put a figurine of a water god facing ... er ... east. Because that's where the sun rises. And that will make the eggs flow.

Um ...

(disclaimer - post may contain traces of confused feng shui principles).

So is this a common issue amongst chicken coops, I haven't heard of it before?

I have the same issue with automatic drinkers - give them multiple, they only use 'the one that the other chook used'

It's normal.

You could buy a couple of fake eggs (most produce stores will have them) and put them into the disliked nest. It might break the spell ...

Something has been going on for the past couple of weeks which has me dumbfounded. There are only a couple of hens in the 'layer' pen who are earning their keep atm.

and

they are all laying in the 2nd nest box from the left - go figure?

nb - no figurines, fake eggs or other changes
