It's worth a try. At very least it should muffle the sound.
Let us know if it works

I heard the roosters still crowing at 6.30am, they are only just starting to crow.

so I made the coop shallower again, about 20cm high

so see what happens this time

the roosters have been in there for a week and I have only heard them once out of 7 days that they have been in.

if I staple shade cloth on the doors except were the ramp is, would the hens have enough air in the coop??

Good idea twitch, they will have plenty of air but it will reduce drafts and rain - better I think than the hessian.
Hint - don't staple the last few cm along the sides and not along the bottom. This will make any build up of litter between the wire and the shade mesh easier to remove. (learned this by experience :aaargh: )
