My alpha hen would not be discouraged from broodiness so I gave in and let her have two eggs. She started sitting on 3 March although siting in the rollaway nests for 3 weeks before this. When I tried to kick her out of the rollaway she was grumpy with any hen that went near her. Frightful actually.

She now has 2 five week old chicks, is in full moult and has periostitis (infection in the covering of the bones) in one of her legs. Poor thing still has 4 weeks of antibiotic treatment left then 4 weeks on probiotics.

She will be going back with the hen chick in 8 weeks. My question is how, after all this time, do I get her back with the others without injury to her or the other three hens? Thank you

if possible, an she is amenable keept he chicks witih her. by the end of the eight weeks she will have a little gang to be reintroduced with. hte chicks should be big enough to cope unless hte other hens are particlualry viscious
