my reds have stopped laying, but in about 2-3 weeks from last lay, I got an egg of one of them and the shell was that soft it was like tissue paper and the egg is like jelly.

any season for this, why did this happen.

If it was only one, probably just a minor glitch. If it happens regularly it could be either a calcium deficiency (or not absorbing it properly) or a disorder of the egg making process where the shell is added to the egg. But for a one off like that, dont worry.
