Hi all
I have a broody hen that is dominating the nesting box to the point she is chasing the other girls out when they want to lay.
She also the eldest so top of the pecking order.
We are constantly chucking her out of the box but she just goes back in.
Sometimes she will be sitting on someones egg, sometimes on an empty nest.
Any suggestions please?

Do you have room to add another nesting box?

A broody hen will say broody unless you do something about it. You can stop the broodiness by taking her out of her comfort zone. Keeping her in the house in a dog crate for a few days would do the trick. Even putting her in a cat carrier and taking her for a drive - that's worked for me! Do a search on 'breaking a broody' and you'll get some ideas (just don't go for the ones that suggest dunking the hen in cold water or putting her in a suspended wire cage - those things are cruel).
