the muscovy drakes sound interesting,

when you say big do you mean mammoths ?

what sort of money do they sell for ?

do they allways have big mussie drakes there ?

at this time of the year, any fully grown Muscovy drake should get from $30-$50 each

I sold 4 of my colour drakes, that I did not want, they were big but not "Mammoth" by any means, at Goldburn last month and got $46 each for them. The Sydney market seems higher than the Melbourne market for Muscovy drakes.

But I also bought two "Mammoth" white drakes at Euroa (not the last Auction 6th Dec, but the one before that) for $80 and $50, both were under weight and are much bigger now they have had a feed.

For those with some of you with some spare time, birds, cash and/or all of teh above this is just a reminder that the Dandenong Poultry Auction isnt taking a break over the festive season and will in fact be held again tomorrow ( Tuesday 29th December). Birds to be penned by 9.30am and auction starts at 10.00am. Just the Poultry auction side running over the school hols though- plants, nic nacs etc dont start again until early feb. So for those with spare birds its a great place to move some on before the heat really sets in!

The Auction site is in Mills Road, Dandenong just off the East link Cheltenham Road exit near the Dandenong Showgrounds.

Birds to be penned by 9.30am and auction starts at about 10.00am. Just the Poultry auction side running over the school hols though- plants, nic nacs etc dont start again until early feb. So for those with spare birds its a great place to move some on before the heat really sets in!

Thanks JOD.

I've got quite a collection of Sussex roosters and Muscovies to go in probably for the 26th Oct auction.

I was very happy with prices they paid today.

$28 for a year old Muscovy drake.

$28 and $25 for two (b*******d) Light Sussex roosters.
I hope they enjoy their roast tonight, rotten things just wouldn't take the hint.

$10ea for some Light Sussex mth old chicks.

Auction started at 9.30'ish on the pigeons.
Fertile & fresh eggs, etc at 10am.
Cages of poultry after that.

I was planning to go but as i was goint to bring 200 birds aparently there is not enough pen for me. I was told that he only has 100 pend at carabeean gardens.

So I will find another place in melbourne to sell. There is not an auction in Melbourne that will take 200 or 3oo birds from one person since mounda clossed. :( :(

I will be selling direct when I can find a market that will let me sell roosters, muscovy drakes and point of lay pullets (isa browens and various pure breds)

Dandenong Auction & Carribean gardens Auction are two different places Braham.

One is on the Tuesday, one the Wednesday. You could probably bring some to both, if you are able to stay the night in the area.

Also the pens at carribean hold two large muscovy drakes without a hassle. I am sure he would be able to accommodate you. There are more than 100 pens there.
