Hi
can anyone help with how I can register birds for this sale please? Or is it restricted to Poultry Club members only?

Thanks!

Look in relevant threads for information. I have been copying info from the Notice Board so perhaps keep an eye on that too. The link to it is in a couple of place - the announcement for Jan-March events and the Sales/auctions thread for Vic

I did actually look in the first two threads and the information I was after was not there.

I scrolled a few pages of the Notice Board and saw nothing either - so then I did a search and found nothing but what I had already looked at or general stuff from people who lived in Warragul selling their birds or reports on old auctions!

So in the end after about half an hour of searching, it seemed simpler to just ask!

I got my answer via PM which is to simply turn up by 9.00am and a number to ring if anyone else is interested PM me until I can establish whether the contact number and name I was given is for public BYP consumption!:

Cheers

At this stage I am unable to attend but I will be sending with someone else some beautiful Bantam Cuckoo Dorking pullets.
These are not readily available but I have been breeding them for some time now and they are very correct
Cockerels available also
Very pretty little birds that don't know how to stop laying once they start.
There will also be some Bantam Silver Grey Dorking pullets and cockerels

I have just realised I still need to clarify how this works exactly as I am more used to Helmsman auctions!:

Since the birds are on sale rather than an auction I presume we simply walk around the pens (like you might browse the shelves in a shop) check out the price (that will be clearly marked on the pen somehwere on a card I imagine? ) and then if we like the bird and the price is right do we take the card and go pay at a desk or pay the buyer direct or...?

Also how many pens are there usually?

Arrive early, look at the birds and choose which you would like
Stay near the cage of birds you like. If there is more than one cage you like you either have to be quick or ask for another to assist you.
The stewards put up the cards at 10am into the clips on the cage
Quickly check the price etc and if you are happy take the card but don't take too long if that cage is a popular choice then you may miss out.
First to get the card from the clip is the "winner"
If you remove the card you are the buyer.
When you have the ones you want you pay for them and the steward will assist in their removal
have a good day it is fun.

Sorry last question (I think!) is there a cost for each pen?

Edited to add: Found my answer on the Notice Board - $1.00 per pen and 15% comission on sales.

As a buyer do you mean?

Or are you planning to enter birds to sell?. Expect a fee for selling.

Might be worth ringing that contact and having a chat. :)

There is a pen fee of $1.00 if you are selling but no buyers fee if you are buying. Some cards will have a price per pen which means you have to buy all that is in the pen. Some cards will have a price per each, so you can pick from those pens, you do not have to buy all. But if you don't want them all please go and pay for the ones you want and have a steward remove them from the pen , so the card can be put back so some one else can buy the rest. There will be plenty to pick from this time of year. There will be alot of people there that are regulars that will answer questions if you are not sure about any thing.
