We washed a couple of short list birds that havent been washed for a while to make the proper wash on this weekend a bit easier and hope they will be whiter, the water was sure dirty after each bird, very pleased I did this.

I have been a bit disappointed in our young cockerels in general but culled the bottom 7 and gee they rest (22) now look very promising for the club shows starting in late may

Our package came yesterday from the RNA legbands etc. and clear directions on how to get there.

Penning in a weeks time and only yesterday changed my mind about a large cockerel to go!! A problem with the show being so early, I'd pulled a number of cockerels showing some early promise out, of several breeds, to condition them for the Royal only to have them not quite develop the way I'd hoped. Barely a hope this new one will be properly pen trained in time but rather that than a bird that just isn't up to scratch. Good thing the pullets are ready. Might be a big year for the girls at Royal.

Well today is predicted to be fine and sunny and 27 degrees with a nice gentle breeze, to blow there feathers, so today will be wash day and the decision making will be over. The struggle to find a third bird for one class has ended with a strategic withdrawal, no point taking a NUTS (not up to standard) bird and females do look good at this stage. wish you all well and happy and safe travelling.

This has snuck up on me something incredible! Judging day for the Sydney Royal is tomorrow. Good luck to all competitors as they pen up their birds.

I'm presuming that the pavilion will be open to the public from Thursday afternoon or Friday, so I'm excited to get down there this weekend and spend some time admiring thousands of birds.

But I also see from the RAS website that there is a poultry general sale on Friday morning, as well as the auction on Saturday afternoon. I have seen people discuss the auction, but I don't know much about the general sale. Can someone enlighten me as to what it involves?

The general sale is- For sale cards on the pen with the price, the price is non negotiable. You take the card upstairs to admin pay the price and you will be given the paperwork in order to get them out on bump out day.
They must stay for the duration of the show.

Well done, George. What did he win with? Give George a bit of time and he could win with any breed.

Congratulations to John, too. He had a ripping LS cockerel at Sydney last year.

Well done to ALL the winners at the Royal and particularly John G with the Light Sussex bantam . I spent most of last week with John at Camden and surprised he had time to get birds ready ( a well deserved win mate ;-) )
Funny thing is I beat John last week at Camden ( just happened to be the tinted bantam EGGS class BUT , from his Sussex )
