Seriously PO here. Not only have we lost the National Poultry Show but poultry doesn't even make an appearance here in our Nations Bush Capitol (except maybe at the petting farm).

Unless it's a very well kept secret. There's nothing listed on ANY of their sites (which are all the same), Nothing on their map, and from memory there has been nothing in the last few years. Tried to find a contact no. or email address but that is a secret too.

It is true that there is no poultry shown (except as a club display) at the Canberra Royal. That's because it's at the wrong time of year for poultry (many are starting to moult). So the poultry component, the Royal Canberra Poultry Show, is run in June, usually on the long weekend. I can't find any info online about it yet but if I see something I will put up a thread :)

Thanks Rach. I did wonder if it was a seasonal thing.

Thanks LP. I always go to that, just think that in terms of the general public, they are more likely to check out the poultry display at the general show than to go to a specialist event.

They have no set poultry pavilion and the one they use for the show in June is used by other displays at the Canberra Royal.

There is still a pretty good public turnout for the June event, considering it's a stand alone event.

Did the Ag show there ever have poultry in the past?

We are very lucky in Qld and at other Royals where the dates work out and they can include poultry. It's such a highlight for people.

We are also lucky that the powers that be at the royal show want poultry and realise poultry is an important part of the EKKA. Our poultry representative is very active at reminding them though I must admit.
