I'm pretty tempted by this ...

I will be taking some Barnevelders, Araucanas, Silkies, Croad Langshan and Australorps.

Hi everyone,

Well this only happens once a year and this year is no exception, there are some really good birds been entered.

Sebrights, Sebastopol geese, Barnies,guinea fowl,light sussex, silkies, Modern Game, Plymouth rocks, Khaki \campbells,polish, just to name a few. There is a huge variety.

Because this Auction is limited to Pure Bred birds, it should be a quick day!!

Auction commences at 10 am with viewing from 9am.

Catalogues are available on the day, Canteen will be proving their great Bacon and Egg rolls, and EFTPOS is available.

Another good auction and always a great social event.
As usual lots of roosters but most were good quality as the breeders dispersed their backup boys. Hens were generally good quality - the pure breeds tend to be the final culls a this time of the year.
Prices were good for the sellers and fair for the purchasers, although some seemed to be exorbitant.
2 pens of buff Silkies sold for $100 a bird. Either someone had too much pocket money or there was something about them which I missed.
I was very happy with the prices paid for my birds - Barnies, Croads, Rocks and Sussex. They bought well above my reserve.
Lots of Muscovies - the meat buyers did well. Some were very poorly presented which I think reduces their value. The excuse given was that the weather had been wet and the ducks got muddy. I manage this by penning them on the driveway the day before, hosing them and letting them preen - simple. Even at an auction I find that good presentation is reflected in the price.
