Hi mycoola, yes I went - nearly a full house but more birds than buyers this time - it is always unpredictable. I missed the budgies - got there a bit late and was feeding/watering my birds during the early part of the auction.

If that was the case, must of only been the best birds sell, so a lot of sellers must have had to take their birds back home., were there pheasants again, and other parrots apart from the budgies.

Only some roosters passed in (not many meat buyers there).
I got my reserves on my Barnie hens/ Marans X pullets. Sold all my boys.
Pheasants and quail. Don't think there were parrots. There were pigeons.

I penned some mature cockerels in today - couple of Barnies, Marans, a Croad and some POL Marans cross pullets.
Just as I was leaving a Multiplo 144 egg incubator arrived.
Will catch up with you tomorrow.

Just getting in early because a few weeks notice is usually too late for me to organise anything. Is November the next auction? Is there a date yet?

Edit: I just went back through this thread and found the dates I thought I'd seen somewhere. November 19 looks like the one :-D

I haven’t been to the Goulburn poultry auction for years. Can you sell fertile eggs? How much per pen/bird?

Hi Missveedub.
Yes you can sell fertile eggs.
20% commission (or 10% for working members) $1 pen cleaning fee. Small charge if you put a reserve price on your birds.
