Looks like I just missed an auction at currency creek last weekend, but there don't seem to be any south australian sales listed in this forum or on the calendar?? I know lobethal should be early may, but what about other clubs? I really need a couple of chooks to keep my noisy wyandotte quiet while the other one lays an egg!

Thanks sbred, the Uraidla sale would be perfect if I didn't have something else on but if I get there at 8am....maybe!

I've set my heart of silkie bantams now... don't suppose anyone knows the odds of finding some at the sale??

There will be other birds there that are not booked in I think there will be silkies I have never been to a sale that there have been none. I am taking Pekin pullets/cockerels, Barnevelder x , maybe some silkies (not sure what I have out in the yard), Buff Orpington duck pairs, Khaki Campbell duck pairs, Natural Mallard ducks, some bantam cross bred ducks, bibbed call drakes, white Plymouth Rock pullets. Usually there is a huge variety of birds just bring money and boxes to carry them in lol

Right, the "thing" on Sunday starts at 12, so I can easily get to Uraidla by 8, buy some chookies and be home by 9, so I will be there clutching my box and money. :th :woot:

Thanks sbred, are your silkies bantams, or full size?

Just to get you started on the right track, Silkies are classed as a large light breed fowl.

Thanks beaten egg, yeah I'm experiencing some confusion about silkies, I think because the standard weights vary by country, but by the Australian standard, full size silkies will be too big, and bantams too small, they'll get beaten up by our wyandottes. But I notice there are Australorp and Sussex bantams coming too, so I'll redirect my thoughts in that direction.
