I absolutely love the colour chart for plum coloured eggs. Never seen one and not likely to ever.

About Croad Langshans: Mine do go broody very regularly (I have no incubator). I think Daniel Lawton put it somewhere on this forum like “they go broody at the drop of a hat but are not too hard to break out of their broodiness” or something to that effect. That is pretty much my experience.

i don't know much about chickens but i think the info on the American Game could be changed where it says they are Aggressive. It should read Aggressive to other fowl
some people may get the wrong idea.

Excellent job on the Breeds Chart! Very helpful! The only thing that confuses me is the Egg Section. If you're going to use Egg Icons to represent the quantity of eggs p.a., can you put a link (or whatever one calls it. I've forgotten!) at the top of the Breed Chart explaining how many egg icons represent how many eggs p.a., please? Because I know some of the breeds egg laying abilities, I'm finding what you have there i.e. only a couple (can't remember which ones) don't seem to tally. Thus the confusion.

It would be a great help.

Did the chart load wrong for a one off, or is it the same for everyone, that 'Indian game' in the Feeding column is "Active courageous" and disturbingly it's class and origin has been 'Tinted'

I'm thinking something has been deleted somewhere.

Yeah looks like a field has been deleted. Writing in wiki syntax is pretty horrible.

Chart says non-broody. This can be dependent upon strain. As a generalization LF are non-broody but bantams are prone to broodiness.

Yes, bantams are quite broody. Two of mine in the broody cage at the moment.

Hi Karina and welcome to Backyard Poultry

The problem with that is that Hylines, ISA Browns and other commercial brown layers arent exactly a breed , more like a hybrid between breeds - designed for maximum output. The layers you see under these descriptions are the terminal or end product of a series of selective breeding formula between certain breeds (and colours for sex linked chicks) that results in the ubiquitous brown commercial layer that can lay pretty well an egg a day (for a limited amount of time )
Being a hybrid between breeds , they wont breed true themselves.

Hi............i need to know about how to crossing a breed like black rock with broillers chicken when a black rock as Male?

I have a Catalana which I notice is missing from the table.

I appreciate it is a less common breed in Australia, much more common in South and Central America. But our girl is a real character and having kept her with ISA Browns, I can highly recommend them.

Where did it come from? I've never seen nor heard of a Catalana in Australia.

Thank you for the chart. Very helpful and informative. Any chance of adding a column for heat and cold? As I understand it, some breeds do better than others with temperature extremes.
