Hi All,

We're on our first season with our mature ducks and have 5 females and a male all of whom started moult around March, two of the cross breeds (we suspect swedish blue and campbell) have started laying again but the 3 khaki campbells are still not laying. Is this normal and how long do they normally take to start up again?

Ive only had a few ducks and mine only laid for about 3 to 4 months a year - spring up until about christmas (cyuga cross and runners) so maybe the campbells are like them. Not sure.

After a moult mine usually don't start paying again till July/August. Individual ducks vary. I'm hanging out for duck eggs too so I feel your pain

I would suggest that once the daylight hours starts to increase again towards the other side of winter that you may start seeing some eggs. Good luck with hatching once they do start laying

Our ducks have finished moulting and are looking lovely, so I expect the first eggs fairly soon rather than not until springtime.

Yesterday I had the first egg from my only pair of geese - earlier than I expected as I didn't think they'd be mature until September/October.

Chooks and chickens are not so great - they are still moulting a little and not enjoying the cold windy weather, so maybe some time yet to go. Only collecting 1-2-3 eggs a day: it would be around 30+ daily if they all laid. Three determined (Silkie of course) broodies sitting on nothing. I don't grudge them all taking a break when they produce so well most of the year, they work for their rest and deserve it.

Was wondering when my Musy's will start laying again. Been a while and I'm suffering poached duck egg withdrawals!
