I have a pink eyed chick, at first I thought it was albino, but it's now getting creamy coloured feathers. I think it's a pink eyed dilute pearl, could anybody tell me if I'm right please, and is it male or female?
You can get sex-linked imperfect albinism mutation in quail, which would explain the feather colouring, it leaves a 'shadow' of patterning on their feathers rather than a pure white colour. The eyes also show more as pink rather than a pure red as it does is complete albinism. Apparently the eyes do darken a bit as they age, but they will still retain a pink/red pupil.
From what I've seen it's linked to females, so I'd tentatively say yours is female. The easiest way to find out is to just wait a little longer though. Fat, foamy bottoms, crowing, or eggs are a definitive way to tell for certain, lol.
I'm curious to find out what it turns out to be, can you update when you know for sure?
