Hi everyone! I was hoping what you all thought on the sex of 'Nimbus' my supposed female Light Plymouth Rock? She is around 14-15 weeks old (I only bought her last friday at that age). I was pretty confident that she is a girl, as I had a male one around the same age and they were so different - her nature is much more relaxed and loves a cuddle, unlike my male. But now I have a few people tell me that she is a male...
I'm not allowed roosters in my area, so i really hope she is a girl! What do you guys things? Thankyou!

I would go female, but I have never kept rocks so could be way off! Id have thought it would have a lot more comb and wattles if it was male.

That's what I thought too about the comb.. I had an 11 week old male plymouth and his comb was much more red and bigger than my new girl. So I'm not really sure where people are getting the 'male vibes' from But she is only my second plymouth so I could be very wrong too!

Looks like a pullet to me. People are probably thinking make because Plymouths are typically a bit stocky looking.

I would guess female. At that age most Rock boys are still not well feathered - they may have bare backs and no tail feathers although combs and wattles are well developed and coloured.

Female... at this age males have a much developed comb...
Also she doesn't have any saddle long feathers which normally indicate it would be a boy...

Pictured bird is 14 weeks old, I wouldn't be expecting any long saddle feathers at that age, tiny ones back in under perhaps, but still 4-8 weeks off being really obvious.

from memory females can only carry one copy of the barring gene where males can carry two giving them a lighter colour even white and black with single copy dark more black than white .
i found the rocks to develop comb and wattles much later than most other breeds , yes the feathering is a lot slower on males than females too but 14 weeks they should be feathered up.
without seeing others next to it i would need to wait and see but would be 60% male to 40% chance female this stage . been a couple years since I have had them .
