Just found my rooster dead in the coop and I'm guttered. I'm puzzled as to what happened.
I noticed his crow was cutting out the last 2 weeks but I just put it down to age as he was 6.

In the past when I've had poultry die they normally end up stiff but it was odd...

His kneck was all floppy like it had been snapped?
Body stiff, legs soft... I'm puzzled... any ideas?

Was he directly under perch or in corner with wings spread, if the latter and loose neck then yes might be a broken neck from night fright. At 6 needs replacing anyway. What type of roo was he and your location as free roos aren't that hard to find
