nice and colorful eggs basket .
he is laying nice egg ,darker than the rest ,so there is an improvement .
I ll say that egg is color 3 not 2
theoretically if mated back to her sire the egg color of her progeny will get darker .

some photos of them please

Question for you jose (or any one else) Have you found a candler which can see thru a dark egg??

I have a sealed wooden box with an led bulb in it with a hole drilled in the side opposite the bulb to place the egg against. It can penetrate even the darkest egg, but my wife (who does all my candling) still wishes I had stuck with white egg breeds!

Sue,

The trick to candling dark eggs is to not look directly at the egg. Try to look out of the corner of your eye. When you look directly at the egg, the cones of the eye come into play, these are the ones that interpret colour and need a good level of light, the rods on the other hand see black and white and are the things that work in low light levels. So at night you see better in black and white in your peripheral vision than you do looking directly at an object.

I used a Led Lensor P5.2 Torch as a candler. It has a curved face that the egg can sit in, uses a single battery and puts out a lot of light.
