Hi, am considering adding some Australorp hens to my backyard flock. I can find many references to how many eggs could be laid per year, but my question is, how many years does an Australorp hen usually lay for? I’d like a “slow and steady” approach over 3-4 years, rather than an abundance within the few first years. Thanks.

Definitely for 3-4 years and possibly longer.

My two Australorp hens are 7 and still lay, but have slowed down. First five years layed well.
