Hi Ken
We made it ourself. We made it about 6yrs ago and it worked for us then. But this time it wasn't so good as the nights got colder the tempeture was dropping,so we only had one chick hatch and it was very weak and died. So we are trying again. So far every thing is going ok.If it is succesful this time we will let you no.

I have some instructions on a home made incubator if you want them. I have made a friend overseas through this site and her husband made one for her then had his instructions published. She emailed them for me so that my next door neighbour could make one.

My husband built me a little incubator using information found on a site along the lines of kuku or koko or something like that - I think it was a christian education site, but we simply searched incubator on a search engine. With a few slight modifications (only very small, and to satisfy my husband!), it was built quickly, we put in 6 eggs from free range hens - 5 were fertile. Of the five, all five had fully formed chicks, however four died in the shells (we think the shells were too hard for them to get out, and will fiddle with the humidity a little more next time). One little tuff-nut survived, and she is happily running around our neighbours yard, sleeps in a box with a light on, is spoilt rotten and pecks at the back door to come back inside!
I am looking at purchasing an R-Com incubator, but at the moment, postage to Australia is too much, so we'll stick with our home-made one for another few months!

Rosie,

The R-Coms are sold here via Bellsouth. Not sure if you knew that :)
