I breed barnevelders and welsummers and, while I strive to get them looking good, the main reason I keep them is the eggs. I only want to breed from those birds laying dark brown eggs but, unless I spend all day in the chookshed, I'll never be sure who laid what. I've been searching for trap-nests for years, without success. Does anyone know where to get them?

Chris's Marans site has some nifty photos on how trap doors work, and how you could make them up at:

http://www.marans.be/EN/pages/ChrisMenu6.htm# (last 6 pics)

and right on the bottom of the page (after it loads) is a great diagram for building them.
