Only have 2 one black,,and one blue , did have a splash, they both lay about the same ,only my experience some with more quantity then me may say they differ.

no genetic reason for any difference but like all things some will lay better than others by selecting better performers is how people advance breeds

I know what you mean the first lavender araucana i had the 2 hens laid 15 eggs between them for the whole season :mmaad . But luckily my next 2 hens a few years later redeemed the breed and were good layers.
As for Lorps all mine have been great layers, i think my blue hen layers my consistently then the black and also seems more popular with the roo's.
