Hi,

completely new to this but would like a coop for back yard with maybe 2-4 chickens...have googled a bit but can only find sites selling coops that look pretty flimsy and when I look at people reviews of them they sound terrible...anyway I am located in canberra and would like to buy a decent quality coop for my back yard...can anyone recommend any suppliers/builders? thanks

Have a look at the dog runs/coops at Metal Mart.

Welcome to BYP :hiya:
I'm in Canberra too, and about to get back into chookies. I've got an all metal walk-in run on order from Justin's Dog Kennels and Animal Yards in Boorowa (see Facebook page). Prices for custom build, delivery and setup seem very reasonable. Alternatively some people like Uncle Joe's tractors - I don't personally know what they're like but they're built here in Canberra. With either option the mesh is strong but too widely spaced and chooks could stick their heads out and get killed by a fox. A second layer of lighter gauge but smaller aperture wire should fix this at not too great trouble/expense (that's what I plan on doing). Or Metal Mart have very reasonably priced weldmesh panels of 25x25mm aperture - advertise on hi pages to find someone to build your dream coop out of timber and mesh! Don't get less than 1m2 per bird run space unless they'll be free ranged all day..
