Hi all, first post on here and newbie to looking after chooks! We have 8 in total, each of us in the family chose two, a variety of breeds. One of my girls is a beautiful blue plash australorp, Fleur. Sweetest most patient chicken you could ever meet (my daughter just loves to pick her up and cuddle her!) tho she has a taste for diamonds, always goes for my engagement ring. However she's never laid an egg. She was a pullet when we got her in April, along with the others. One by one their combs grew and stood up and one by one they all gave us their first egg. Except her. Not sure if she's just a late starter, if theres something wrong - she seems healthy - or whether its possible she might never lay! Any insight much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum :)
I've never heard of chooks that don't ever lay eggs. Sometimes their maturing rate slows down when they "come to the age of laying" during winter. She might take until October or so to start laying. Different birds mature at different rates too.....
Just enjoy interacting with her in the mean time.

I have a fat, greedy pekin bantam hen who has never laid an egg. She's super lazy in all the ways, so it doesn't surprise me. Cute and friendly though like yours. Just enjoy her as a pet :-)
