What months do people consider the peak egg production for the area you live in?
Please give your State and postcode, as it would be interesting to see the variances, and help those planning their breeding season.
My birds kick in with lots of eggs after their Autumn moult then once the days get longer mid July, production is full bore and tapers off at the end of Spring once the weather heats up, and during summer is very low.
I live in Queensland Post Code 4270.

Interesting. I'm very new to chicken keeping and won't be able to provide relevant information. I have had my four chicken's since December last year. Came into lay and have continued to do so, since. Most days I collect four eggs from four chooks.

I’m in Canberra and my chickens started laying in mid/late July but it was sporadic and they didn’t hit full production till mid August (can’t remember the date exactly...). Ducks started laying in mid August and hit full production (an egg a day) straight away.

I live in Southern WA and mine never stopped laying. They did moult, but one or two at a time and then conveniently started to lay again. So I never had to buy even one egg!

I think seasonal pattern by State is a bit simplistic. In central Vic mine only started laying this week. Cold windswept cropping fields area. Ten minute drive away in a tree sheltered hilly area they have been laying for well over a month. It's more the micro climate that affects commencement (second to hours of daylight which is the main driver).

It's possibly also breed dependent - my 'different breed' pens all tend to start at different times.

Very interesting - we should keep going for the whole of the year.

Also age:
Last year's white Croad Langshan: 14-4-18
Last year's black Croad Langshan: 22-6-18
Older Croads: mid July, I think
East Gippsland 3875
Sheltered position.
