Just wondering if anyone may know of a business/person who makes decent chicken coops or if there are some reasonably simple plans online (i'm no expert carpenter)?

I've tried these fir wood packages and its basically crap and the only 1 or 2 hardwood coop businesses online want ludicrous prices of $4-5k.

It seems it's either utter rubbish or you need to mortgage your home.

I need a coop for a dozen silkies. They are let out all day in the yard.

Thanks in advance

If you click on "Housing, Feeding and Husbandry" above left and then on the " Housing Index" you will see lots of ideas and builds.

A simple idea I have used is to buy a garden shed either new or second hand. As a floor either pour a slab, use concrete pavers or make a raised floor with form ply. Put in perches and nest boxes and you have a fairly cheap coop. Don't forget to anchor the shed to the ground using star posts and bolts on all four corners.
