Is there any reason why I shouldn't a probiotic with vitamins in chicks' water?

Hi Marie,
I'm curious about why you have asked this question?
(It looks like you are an experienced chicken keeper, long standing member of this forum and many posts........)
Did something happen?

I tend not to supplement chick feed until they are about a week old, if at all. This is only to let their systems get used to one thing at a time. I don't give vitamins at all, unless there seems to be a reason. (Though, I prefer to let broody hens raise chicks, who also give their chicks what they are digging up for them, so our situations might be different.)

At this time of year, I'd say be careful about adding vitamins to water, as this will help bacteria to grow in there. Also, probiotics, though they might be "good bacteria", might be too much for little chicks all at once. If I thought vitamins were necessary, I think I would change the water frequently and on alternate days add a little powdered probiotic sprinkled over the feed, not in the water. ;-)

Not sure this will help.......
